would you really want to be anywhere else..
I have the impression that you think I'm talking about Japan. Well, I understand how you would.
I was actually talking about Washington where the future leaders of the cabinet seem to take it as natural that they don't pay taxes until they are caught.

love the ending quote in your post! actually when i first saw your post a few days back there was only the title showing and no content.
yeah, the recent findings with Geitner and Daschle make me wonder just how many more have similar issues going on. it's only cause these guys in question were being vetted that they were scrutinized so closely.
Just imagine how many thousands of dollars the average English teacher living in Japan would owe in back taxes to either the IRS or Japanese government! I'd say over 95% of us are clueless about our tax obligations for America's Social Security / Japanese National Health and Pension. Yes. My favorite topic.
My former manager owes over $20,000 on this point. There are many who would top that. Do you think this will ever make the headlines?
and the list just keeps on growing.
As for the foreigners who didn't pay their taxes, it will catch up with many of them and for those who "get away with it," their retirement check will surely suffer.
